Graduate Program for Innovative Condensed-Matter Physics foster talent and lead the paradigm shift. The Department of Physics at the University of Ulsan has been strategically specialized in the research of new materials. By integrating with the strengths of these departments, we are contributing to overcoming Korea's original material industry ecosystem, which is highly dependent on overseas, and furthermore, We intend to cultivate highly competent condensed material physics talents who can lead the'paradigm shift' in the new material field.
The term new material refers to 1) a material showing a new phenomenon, 2) a quantum new material including the manipulation of characteristics, 3) a new renewable energy material, etc. The research goal of this educational research center is "contributing to academic development by leading the study of new materials. And, furthermore, securing national competitiveness through the development of source materials". Comprehensive/complex research capabilities must be equipped to develop multifunctional new materials that meet the rapidly changing needs of modern science and technology. The Department of Physics at the University of Ulsan has its members specialized in the field of condensed matter physics, and 10 professors participating in this educational research center out of 11 full-time faculty members have excellent expertise in new material design and property prediction, new material synthesis and device development, and property measurement and analysis Equipped. Each subgroup based on this expertise will develop into an educational research group capable of cultivating creative talents with world-class research capabilities in new material research through close and organic exchanges.
For the P5-Based Learning education program, We propose five specific operational plans: student-led education/research, technology-oriented education/research, academic-research-linked education/research, Korea-cent ered internationalization, and collaboration-oriented education/research.
